A 35 Year Old Design

Designed by an English master, Hugh Scriven, this small swivelling makeup mirror is so clever and fun to use that it will never stop surprising you.  You will find excuses to use it for more than putting on your makeup!

The design is 35 years old and to this day Hugh describes it as one of the top three designs of his long and distinguished, international career.  Designs that stand the test of time are something special indeed.

How to use the Makeup Mirror

The technique could not be any simpler.  All that you need to do is grasp the wooden legs and just give them a slight twist.  That’s it.

When the legs are swivelled the mirror surface amazingly moves forwards and backwards accordingly.  In fact the mirror can actually pass through a full 180º arc. It’s amazing how simple the dynamics are.  All becomes clear when you actually handle the makeup mirror itself.

By simply turning the wooden feet ever so slightly, you can find the perfect angle that suits your sitting position and the table height.  Furthermore, the makeup mirror will firmly remain in this position until you decide to move it again.

When you’re finished, you can leave the mirror on the table surface as is, or actually turn the feet 180º to lay the mirror completely flat.  This enables safe storage and takes up minimal space.  This feature also makes the makeup mirror a great travel companion.

Hugh Scriven was a driving force behind the development of our own PodMarket® designer, Harry Strouzas.  Hugh was the head of the prestigious design course that Harry attended in Buckinghamshire, UK.  In his own words, Harry ‘was his disciple’.

Suffice to say, Hugh and Harry hit it off and became friends.  Harry ensures that the manufacturing today (in Melbourne) is just as good as the originals that Hugh was making himself (by hand) back in the 1980’s + 1990’s, in England.
