Description
In anticipation of our soon to launch accomodation pods – which will also be internationally certified Passive Houses (refer to our sister site for more on this http://superpodhome.com/ ), we have curated two stationery packs. These packs will be available when staying within the pods which we’re sure will help reawaken your creative side as you reconnect with nature and comfortable, clean, fresh air (what Passive House in known for) – away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. We have put together a pack geared towards the author (the Scribbler Writing Pack) and one towards the artist (the Doodler Drawing Pack). Of course we’re happy to mix and match the components as desired.
Each pack comprises a very special notebook and fountain pen with ink.
The Notebooks we have selected come from a small Japanese company that specialises in authentic hand made paper – Life Stationery. You wont find these at your large warehouse style stationery store!
LIFE STATIONERY (Japan)
Originally founded in 1946 by Yasuhiro Saito, all the paper and notebooks are still made by hand – hand gluing, hand trimming, hand sorting….After wartime rationing ended (1949) the founder wanted to recognise the new opportunities and future of his country and business by calling the company LIFE. The workshop is located just outside Tokyo.
The paper goods were initially sold on the streets of Japan. As the business and brand gained recognition, it was then sold via Japanese department stores and larger retailers. It’s now a major brand in Japan, but is only starting to become more well-known internationally.
The paper is perfect for fountain pens (which demands higher quality and performance) and all bindings are very strong and sturdy (mostly stitched, and sometimes bound on top of the stitching, rather than simplistic staples). The Life Stationery Notebook covers also manage to retain that old style of Japanese notebook design, or have a beautiful, vintage kind of look associated with them.
We stock the ruled, L (series) writing paper notebook for our Scribbler Writing pack. It has 140 pages (70 sheets) of pure, lined white paper. Our Doodler Drawing pack comprises a sprial bound “Symphony” notebook. It comprises of 200 pages (100 sheets) of unruled, plain white paper.
KAWECO FOUNTAIN PENS (Germany)
Originally founded in 1883 in Heidelberg, Germany, Kaweco designs stem from another era when tradition and craftsmanship were paramount. Creating products that keep the given promise of standing up to being much loved and seasoned writing companions every single day.
Kaweco takes the long list of steps and tasks necessary to build quality writing instruments incredibly seriously. The manufacturing process has consequently moved to Nuremberg, but the procedure remains the same. A city rich with tradition and appreciation for writing instruments-local tradition and technology from afar meet in every single Kaweco pen.
We stock two versions of the world’s most recognisable and sought after “pocket” fountain pen – the Kaweco Classic Sport. These pens are the ideal travelling companion. Small in stature when closed, yet full size and versatile when “capped”. In fact, we’re sure that you’ll use your Classic Sports as your “everyday carry” – just as we do. The iconic octagonal facets, help improve the user’s grip and ensures that the pen will never roll off the table or desk. Note, both versions below use the standard international cartridge size, and the skyline version can even be converted to an “eye-dropper” pen – meaning any designer ink can be used and injected/eye-dropped into the body. This is not suitable for metal pens however.

- 1 x “L” Series Writing Paper Notebook, with rules lines (Life Stationery, Japan)
- 1 x Kaweco Skyline Sport Fountain Pen (Macchiato) – medium nib
- 1 Packet (ie: 6 individual cartridges) of ink – either black, blue, brown. Note. no specialist tools are required to utilise these international cartridges – simply insert and write.
- Optional extra: you can interchange your Skyline Kaweco Classic Sport for the full Brass version, for a small fee, if you prefer the heavier weight and metallic look.
