Yes, it’s a sofa bed

Our latest sofa bed, the Rafine is a rare specimen.  It is very eye catching and also contains a couple of important secrets.
Firstly it is very, very comfortable.  You can sit on it with scatters or without as desired, and the comfort levels will remain.  The second important point is that it converts seamlessly to a pull-out bed.  There are 3 sizes available (single, double and queen).  It’s other main feature (which is abundantly clear)  is that it’s very elegant, contemporary and stylish.

Putting these important components together is no simple task.  Here we have a beautiful designer sofa in it’s own right.  A modern sofa which is extremely comfortable and beautifully made in Melbourne.  And the unexpected kicker – it converts to a pull-out bed.  A sofa bed which is very useful and compact – but which doesn’t look like those generic, bulky sofa beds which are horrible to sit on when they’re being used as sofas.

Needless to say, the Rafine suits many types of interiors.

French Seam

It’s unusual for us to not offer a sofa (or sofa bed) in leather.  However we’re making this very decision for the entire Rafine range.  Why?  Simply because the double-over “French seam” doesn’t really work that well with leather.  Instead, it was designed to stand out and “pop” using select high quality fabrics.  So that’s what we’re making available.  We especially love emphasizing the iconic “French seam” using quality cotton-based velvets and linens as well as natural wools.  And we’re sticking true to our principles and instincts in this regard.

The colours available in the various fabrics are extensive, as too are the textures that the various fabrics provide.  Please note: if you’d like to discuss your options regarding velvet and linen (or anything else) please don’t hesitate to contact us.  It’s easier to discuss the options with these materials when we know a little bit more about the specific look someone is after.  Our preferred New Zealand Wools are listed as the default cover options to keep the front end of the shopping cart as clear as possible.  For anything else, just get in touch.

Scatter Cushions

The ergonomics inherent in the Rafine sofa bed design are fantastic.  Sit, curl-up and tuck your legs under or lie down – you’ll always be comfortable.  Are scatter cushions required?  Not necessarily with this designer sofa bed.  If you’re on the shorter side of the spectrum, then maybe yes, like most sofas you’ll sit on, you’ll be wanting some extra support by adding a cushion or two.  That choice is clearly an individual one.  However, please be aware that you wont need any scatter cushions to help the sofa bed function as a bed.

In the typical, clunky sofa bed configuration, the loose scatter cyushions are often stuffed behind the pull-out bed mechanism to stop peoples’ heads from hitting the structural back.  However with the Rafine designer sofa, we’ve allowed the full length seat to act as a soft, plush bed-head.  This frees the cushions up, so you don’t need too many of them to help support things when the bed functionality is needed.

Don’t get us wrong, we think that the Rafine does benefit from a scatter cushion here or there.  But please make this decision based on your sitting requirements and aesthetic preferences only.  Scatters are simply not required when treating the Rafine as a bed.  As always we offer a large range of scatters in many different shapes, sizes and finishes, in accordance with your preferences.  Please refer to our Luxe Scatter Cushions for more on this.

Single, Double or Queen

The Rafine sofa bed range is available as a single, a double or a queen size bed.  We find that the single bed size suits smaller spaces as well as when an “all-nighter” needs to be put in at the office or chambers.    Well now, at least you can sleep in comfort, and still have your work space look very appealing and comfortable during the day!

We have also just released a matching Rafine armchair to complete your designer lounge ensemble or room setting.  Please note, that the designer armchair version doesn’t convert to a pull-out bed.  (It is simply too narrow to accomodate this).

Measure twice

Please ensure that your selected sofa bed dimensions will allow for comfortable delivery through your entrance ways and doors. Please advise if there are any stairs etc for the delivery team to navigate also.
