Description

Maurits Escher (1898-1972) – Graphic Artist, Netherlands

Take one look at this LED wall light and you’ll just keep on staring. Like the famous graphic artist the designer mirrors are named after, the Escher series is simultaneously concerned with numerous concepts.  From mathematical and visual ones, including: reflection, perspective, infinity, asymmetry and geometry to the  great artist’s specialty.   Impossible to construct visual objects.  For more about Maurits Escher and his prolific works, please click here.

An artistic LED wall light

Minimalist and contemporary, this LED wall light is elevated to the status of “visual art”.  This is generated by an otherwise simple object.  A connected black line.  The solitary black line which flows continuously on the inside as well as the outside of the timber edge frame work.  It’s this line which is the iconic emblem of this light box range.

The external line detail adds visual interest when one examines the wall light closely (yes, we promise this will happen)!  Whilst at the same time, the internal line detail will add that genuine element of intrigue as to how it actually made its way from the outside edge to the inside one.  You will eventually figure out how this is achieved, and it will impress you even more.  Remember those design principals we adhere to – they’re all in play here.

The face of the Escher LED wall light is a beautiful, slightly textured, Japanese rice paper screen.  This acts as a subtle light diffuser.  Behind this rice paper and running around the perimeter of the light box is a series of small LED lights.

The Escher LED wall light is available in a square version only.

Important note: Electrical installation and wall hanging (split battens) are required, and are the customer’s responsibility to organise. All electrical work must be performed by a licensed electrician. Please contact us for assistance if required.

Designer mirrors too

Furthermore, the Escher LED wall light can be complimented by an exact replica – except in a mirror format.  There is also a large rectangular designer mirror version also.

Sustainability

Sustainability is our essence, not just a tag line.
Good Design is sustainable. Minimal materials, cleverly put together, avoiding unnecessary production and waste. Well crafted designs that last a long time, because if you buy cheap you pay twice, and so does the environment.

Sustainability is about health, avoiding bad chemicals, using non-toxic materials.  Choice of materials is important. We prefer natural fibres in our fabrics. Wools, cottons, linens, and leather.  Timber is a great choice for sustainable outcomes. Forests are good for our environment, and timber production has many eco-benefits. We prefer timbers that are properly harvested using sustainable forestry practices, and timbers that last. We use glass, or metal when that’s what the item needs to be beautiful, or functional, or to last a long time. That’s part of a sustainable outcome too.
