Description

A recycled timber table for today

Sleek, modern, uncomplicated, clean and very durable.  The Grove table series is the epitome of the contemporary recycled timber table aesthetic.

With it’s welded steel under frame and reclaimed solid timber top, the look is timeless and can fit in any type of interior.  The Grove is just as comfortable in a large converted warehouse or inner city terrace building as it is in a bespoke seaside home.

The steel under frame is powder coated (matte) black to provide a superior finish to the overtly rustic, untreated steel.  Other colours can be catered for upon request.  And if you really want that distressed rusty type steel, we’re happy to accomodate (simply contact us).

In contrast to the tubular, welded steel framework, the top is made from durable, solid reclaimed hardwood.  Sometimes the timber comes to us via large home renovations, a refurbished factory/warehouse or any other number of unusual places.  We’ve even had old fishing pier timber make its way to our expert makers.

Regardless of the source, we ensure that all solid timber tops are finished with a water borne (matte) lacquer.  We believe that this provides a natural softening element to the overall aesthetic.  The wood offsets the visually heavy steel, thus letting it ‘fit into’ its environment much more inconspicuously.  However, we also ensure that the overhang of the wooden top is minimal.  This makes sure that the steel frame’s structure is still very much on show.

The Grove recycled timber table is very adaptive to its surroundings and the decor it shares space with.  It also works exceptionally well with a great number of varying chair designs.  This point is often overlooked.  Please don’t fall into this trap.

Alternatives

The Grove recycled timber table is available in five different sizes.  The options and versatility of this design is quite extensive.  Please also enquire directly if you would like to have this table adapted to suit a higher format bar table which would accomodate stools rather than chairs.  You can set your own preferred height.  We are also happy to offer the Grove tables in a custom made size of your choosing.  Simply contact us for more information about this customisation.

Please note that the availability of the timber tops (ie: species of wood) is dependent on our sources at any given time.  You can also have this Grove table design with a first grade timber top in the timbers listed above.

Sustainability

Sustainability is our essence, not just a tag line.
Good Design is sustainable. Minimal materials, cleverly put together, avoiding unnecessary production and waste. Well crafted designs that last a long time, because if you buy cheap you pay twice, and so does the environment.

Sustainability is about health, avoiding bad chemicals, using non-toxic materials.  Choice of materials is important. We prefer natural fibres in our fabrics. Wools, cottons, linens, and leather.  Timber is a great choice for sustainable outcomes. Forests are good for our environment, and timber production has many eco-benefits. We prefer timbers that are properly harvested using sustainable forestry practices, and timbers that last. We use glass, or metal when that’s what the item needs to be beautiful, or functional, or to last a long time. That’s part of a sustainable outcome too.
