We’re all different

Some people like cushions sitting right behind their back when in lounges sofas. Others don’t. Some people like to sit right back in an armchair or sofa and tuck their feet underneath them. Others don’t. Some people have short legs. Some people have long legs.

Bottom line…..we are all different.  We like different things.  We’re different shapes.  We’re different sizes.  We want different things at different times.  And being comfortable means different things to different people.  Enter the Alto sofas/lounges!

Versatile & adaptable

Because we’re all different, and because we want different things at different times, we decided to focus on this fact.  Hence we decided to design and make lounges sofas that allow each sitter to determine the following in real time.  Just how far back do they want to sit and how much back support do they want at any given time?

We also wanted to provide this versatility without having a bunch of separate scatter cushions strewn all over the lounge.

The unique design feature we devised revolves around the concept of a fully integrated and connected back cushion.  Connected to the sofa at all times that is.  Consequently, this allows the connected back cushions to sit just behind your back if you want complete back support or if you have shorter legs.  Alternatively the cushions can be flipped over the back of the sofa when you want to sit deeper in the lounge or if you have particularly long legs.

But importantly, to provide true adaptability to these various scenarios, these back support cushions must be quite large.  We’re not talking about pokey little scatters here.  Furthermore the design ensures that they never have the ability to physically be separated or removed from the lounges.  This is important and makes these lounges sofas multi-functional and multi-dimensional.  The large back cushions are physically connected to the sofas internal framework via the use of custom made, highly durable, leather straps as well as decorative feature buttons.

There when you need them

So use the large back cushions or flip them over and get them out of the way whenever you want. The choice is yours.  But rest assured, they’ll always be there waiting for you when you want them.  And they look fantastic from both the front of the lounges sofas, as well as the back.  Beauty and genuine functionality combine!

Each Alto sofa is available with the range of upholstery options.  The same applies to the flip-over back cushions.  Refer to the options on this page for this information.  Any further additional (loose) scatter cushions can also be added as desired too.  Please refer to our “Luxe Scatter Cushions” for more information regarding these loose scatters.

Please refer to our specifications data sheet for detailed dimensions.  However, in short the Alto sofa series is available in a 2 seat, 2.5 seat and 3 seat configuration.  We also offer two different widths of the matching Alto Armchair design.

Important point for all sofas

Please ensure that the various sofa dimensions will allow for comfortable delivery through your entrance ways and doorways. Please advise if there are any stairs etc that the delivery team should also be aware of.  These final points often catch people out!
