The original Pende Side Table becomes even more versatile and dramatic with this additional extra.  We are pleased to say that we have perfected the transformation from side table to table lamp – literally!

The key is the utilisation of the unique patent pending (pentagon) connection bracket.  We place the precise wooden fitting on top of the stainless steel bracket and we screw in the world renown “#001 Plumen” light globe to it.  This custom made five-sided fitting is pre-threaded to accept the screw threads from the light globe, thus ensuring a very secure fit.

Note: we utilise (and only offer) the original #001 Plumen globe for this designer table lamp, however in reality any globe you desire can be used as long as it has the “E27” screw in fixing type.  For more information regarding these unique low-energy globes please follow this link: Plumen.

Some background on the Pende Side Table:
The pende series uses five legs, (pende is in fact the Greek word for “five”) and it has each straight leg pass around the centre of the spiral without actually needing any jointing from one leg to another. Our patent pending designed polygon bracket is the only simple form of fixing the legs need, and the precise nature of the angles lets each leg rest on the leg to its right, whilst having the leg on its left rest directly on it. This makes the entire underframe network connection self-tightening and self-supporting as well as incredibly strong – and all without the use of any adhesive! Each version of the Pende table is available in either a square or round top.

Note: We used to offer a removable tray with the design (a couple of images show this), however we no longer offer this option as we feel that it detracts from the minimalist nature of the piece.

Note from Fiona: Harry worked on this concept for many, many months.  It is beautifully elegant and deceptively simple in appearance.  Like many genius designs, you just can’t see how much thinking and intelligence has gone into it, or can you?

Sustainability is our essence, not just a tag line.
Good Design is sustainable. Minimal materials, cleverly put together, avoiding unnecessary production and waste. Well crafted designs that last a long time, because if you buy cheap you pay twice, and so does the environment.

Sustainability is about health, avoiding bad chemicals, using non-toxic materials.  Choice of materials is important. We prefer natural fibres in our fabrics. Wools, cottons, linens, and leather.  Timber is a great choice for sustainable outcomes. Forests are good for our environment, and timber production has many eco-benefits. We prefer timbers that are properly harvested using sustainable forestry practices, and timbers that last. We use glass, or metal when that’s what the item needs to be beautiful, or functional, or to last a long time. That’s part of a sustainable outcome too.
